Many massage therapists use Reiki to enhance their massage treatments and nurses, LPN’s and CNA’s will find that it has a very calming and soothing effect on patients who are agitated, fearful or in pain. Reiki I and II, taken together or separately, include lecture, discussions, reading assignments and hands-on practice with fellow participants. Participants learn to utilize Reiki energy to assess the needs of the client/patient, and perform a full and complete treatment session. The techniques and symbols utilized in these classes are accepted by the International Center for Reiki Training. The course textbook is Reiki: The Healing Touch; First and Second Degree Manual, by William Lee Rand. By the end of these courses, the participant will be able to: Discuss the history of Reiki, including the Usui lineages of Reiki; Describe the Chakra system and its importance to the Reiki healing method; Discuss ethical and boundary issues associated with the practice of Reiki; Discuss opening and closing methods; Demonstrate the accepted hand positions utilized by Reiki practitioners for self and others; Perform a complete Reiki treatment on a fellow class participant.
